Teaser Trailer for my MA project "Five" from 2022. Music: "Five" by Sleeping at Last Inspirations: Enneagram Personality Test, Sleeping at Last, Lotte Reiniger and Egyptian Traditional Embroidery Synopsis: Two type five personality kids, Lily, a seven-year-old entomologist and Ryan, a nine-year-old astronomer, who meet at the forest during summer vacation. They introduce each other to their worlds and teach each other about their discoveries, thus beginning their friendship. The pair then starts a journey of discovery and learning about the world together, ‘adding color’ to each other’s lives.

My Premasters Project from 2020. Inspirations: "Touch" by Sleeping at Last, "Inner Workings" (Disney short animation), and based on my personal struggles with Generalized Anxiety Disorder Synopsis: Litost is an untranslatable Czech word which means a state of sudden torment and agony created by the sudden sight of one’s own misery. The film is a journey inside the mind of Character who struggles with Generalized Anxiety Disorder; it shows a glimpse of the different stages of anxiety that happen on her mind leaving her in a vicious anxiety-depression loop.

A personal Documentary about my travels in Egypt. "1420 Km" is my love letter to Egypt as I am finally reaching a point in my life in which I have a better understanding of my complicated relationship with culture. Growing up, I’ve always felt “Westernized” in a way that made me feel disconnected from being Egyptian. Obviously always being told that I don’t look Egyptian enough didn’t help either, especially because it was always said to me as a compliment. I just came back to Egypt after a year abroad, and although I enjoyed my experience in the UK, it made me realize for the first time in my life how Egyptian I am! Doing my research about “Cultural Representation in Animation” for my MA, allowed me to dig deep into the topic of Orientalism and to comprehend the questionable self image I used to have about being an Egyptian, an Arab and a Muslim… I finally understand why I used to feel the way I did and I can now grasp it enough to put into words. This ongoing project has been a journey of self discovery for me, dating back to 2017 when I started experimenting with my camera. The footage used are a re-edit of some of my work with ConnollyCove in 2017 and 2020, some of the footage from my internship with the Ministry of Tourism in 2019, my Bachelor project from 2019 and personal footage. This project is a personal Documentary about Egypt through my lens and an exploration of Egyptian Art and Culture. Through out the years, I grew to appreciate the diversity of Egyptian culture and how it reflects on our art. Now, I am able to see the beautiful aspects of Egyptian culture —instead of just focusing on the negatives or comparing to other more developed countries — which has offered me loads of inspiration as an artist. Hence, I decided to create this documentary, putting together footage from all of those beautiful places in Egypt that I’ve visited in the past 6 years. The title of this documentary is 1,420 km which is the distance in Egypt from North to South. You can watch the entire documentary on Vimeo.

Student Short Film from 2017, in collaboration with Mennatullah Assem Inspirations: Egyptian golden age of Cinema and Midnight in Paris Actors: Heidi Ismail, Mahmoud Youssef, Wafaa Mostafa and Omar Serafy Synopsis: Nadeen is a young Egyptian girl who is not satisfied with the current state in Egypt, as she has always been fascinated by the Egyptian golden ages, and wondered if she was born in the wrong era. After getting too invested in a research about the Egyptian golden age of cinema (1950s and 1960s), she wakes up to find herself in that era and everyone is calling her Nawal instead. A confused Nawal has to deal with these new circumstances as she adapts to her new life in the past. DISCLOSURE: WE DO NOT OWN THE RIGHT TO ANY OF THE MUSIC, THEY ARE JUST FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSE.

The project is about how I see myself connected to the world and to different cultures, it's about seeing all the similarities rather than the differences.
